Tag and find documents
Tags are your filing; document type is a different thing entirely.
How tags are kept clean
Tags are tidied on save: surrounding space is trimmed, duplicates merged, blanks dropped. The first spelling you used is kept, so the tag list does not fill up with two versions of one word.
Both the length of a tag and the number of tags on a document are capped. If your tagging is hitting the cap, that is usually a sign the category should be a service line or an engagement rather than a tag.
The suggested tags come from the tags actually in use in the workspace. A tag nobody wears any more disappears from the list.
The tag filter is AND, not OR
Select two tags and only documents carrying both are returned. A text search then narrows that result further rather than widening it.
Search looks across the filename, the generated title and the tags together.
A tag is not a document type
A tag is a filing label, and whoever uploaded the document can add one.
Document type, by contrast, is metadata tied to the data room and the financial work, and it is gated more strictly. Tagging never changes a document's type.
