For accounting & audit

Proving where the numbers came from.

Mostly scanned, often Persian, all due at once.

  • Juniors retyping scanned statements into a workbook for two days
  • A review question that takes forty minutes to answer because the source page is unclear
  • Three versions of the same client file, none of them obviously current
  • Deadline weeks where the constraint is data entry, not judgement

Symptoms

Where the hours actually go

  • Juniors retyping scanned statements into a workbook for two days
  • A review question that takes forty minutes to answer because the source page is unclear
  • Three versions of the same client file, none of them obviously current
  • Deadline weeks where the constraint is data entry, not judgement
  • Persian and English documents handled by different ad-hoc processes

The playbook

Fix the intake first

  1. Standardise intake

Every client document arrives through the platform, attached to the client and engagement. No more "it's in my email". This alone recovers hours per file.

  2. Read, then validate — do not retype

Run the document through the reader. Have the junior validate the pages that carry figures rather than transcribing all of them. Judgement replaces typing.

  3. Spread with citations

Map onto your chart of accounts once per client; the mapping is remembered next period. Every figure now answers the review question by itself.

  4. Review from exceptions

Let the ratio panel and threshold exceptions point the reviewer at the lines worth their time, and record what they found as findings rather than margin notes.

What you use

The surfaces that carry a practice

  • Reading at volume

Queued processing with concurrency, so a deadline week is a scheduling question rather than an all-nighter.

  • Page-level validation

Hash-checked saves and a validated copy separate from raw output — evidence a reviewer can rely on.

  • Spreads with sources

Every cell cites its page, and staleness is flagged when the underlying document changes.

  • Exception-first review

Threshold breaches surface the lines that deserve a reviewer's attention.

  • Clear ownership

Who validated which page, who reviewed which spread, and when — without a separate tracking sheet.

  • Persian by default

Persian numerals parsed in tables, RTL interface, mixed-language documents handled as normal input.

What changes in a deadline week

For practices

  • Is the output good enough for a working paper?
The validated output is — that is precisely why validation exists as a state with its own artefact. Raw model output is treated as a draft everywhere in the product.
  • Can we run this for many small clients?
Yes. Clients, engagements and documents scale together, and the per-client mapping is remembered so the second period is much faster than the first.
