Four shapes of measurement
You can count something, sum an amount, take the ratio of two things, or measure how long something dwells in a state.
Filters go on top: open engagements only, one service line only, the current period only. The list of fields you can filter on comes from the server rather than from a list the interface keeps for itself.
Change the entity and the filters are cleared — a clause pointing at a column of the previous entity is not a clause.
Read the formula back as a sentence
At the end, the builder writes what you have made as an ordinary sentence.
It is the only way somebody who did not write the formula can tell whether it is right — and an indicator only its author understands is not an indicator.
Human activity versus machine activity
For indicators that measure activity, there is a switch saying to count human activity only.
Without it, an engagement the assistant posted to an hour ago reads as freshly touched, when the last human to look at it did so twenty days ago. An indicator that misses that hides exactly the thing it was built to reveal.
Presets
The preset gallery is a set of offers rather than default content: a new workspace has no indicators at all, and the gallery marks which ones you have already added.
Once installed, a preset is a perfectly ordinary dormant row — it went through the same door your hand-built indicator goes through, and it uses no special machinery.
