Value and expected close
The two fields that make pipeline value reporting possible.

Three fields, one more optional than the rest
An engagement can carry a value, a currency and an expected close date. All three are editable both at creation and afterwards.
Leaving them blank breaks nothing; that engagement simply does not participate in value reporting. A report that counts half the engagements as zero is worse than no report.
Open value counts open engagements only
The open-value line sums only engagements whose outcome is still open.
A won engagement is not in that figure — it lands in the won value of the period it was actually won in.
