The stage history
Every move is one row. It is never edited or deleted — which is what makes it worth having.
One move, exactly one row
Every time a stage changes — forward, back, closing, reopening, archiving — exactly one row is added to the history: who, when, from where to where, and the note if one was required.
Creating the engagement is itself the first row, so even a brand-new engagement does not have an empty history.
There is no edit and no delete. That is the single thing that turns a pipeline review into a conversation about the business rather than about who changed what.
An engagement with history cannot be deleted
As soon as the first move is recorded, that engagement is no longer deletable.
The reason is that deleting an engagement would take its history rows with it — and those rows are what the whole firm's funnel and cycle time are computed from.
